The Story of 町田酒造店

Machida Sake Brewery has stood in Maebashi, Gunma since 1883, guided by a simple motto: fine-grained, clear sake brewing. That approach has brought its flagship Seiryo Daiginjo a gold prize at Japan's National New Sake Awards. The lineup also plays on local dialect, pairing the sweet Kakaa Tenka ('the wife rules the roost') with the dry Teishu Kanpaku ('the husband is king') — both familiar Gunma expressions. A direct-sales shop at the brewery is open on weekdays.
