The sister cellar of Kamikawa Taisetsu, brewing 'Tokachi' inside a university campus in Obihiro.
Hekiun-gura is the Obihiro branch of Kamikawa Taisetsu, the brewery founded in 2017 to revive small-town sake-making in Hokkaido. Uniquely, it operates inside the campus of Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, brewing its Tokachi line, Junmai Daiginjo, Junmai Ginjo and Honjozo, entirely from Hokkaido-grown rice. As at its sister cellar, the brewing floor itself is closed to visitors for hygiene reasons, but an observation room is open to anyone without a reservation, and the on-site shop sells cellar-exclusive sake and lees.
