Chiebijin — named for the first landlady, drawn from 200 metres below Kitsuki.
Nakano Shuzo was founded in 1874 in Kitsuki, Oita — Japan's only sandwich-shaped castle town. Its sake is named Chiebijin after Chie, the founder's wife and first landlady of the house, and is brewed with mineral-rich water drawn from 200 metres underground. Under the creed that sake making is harmony and smiles, the kura keeps its sourcing close to home. Tours by reservation, 9:00–16:00, welcome even solo visitors.
