Seifuku Shuzo, established in 1949 in the Miyara district of Ishigaki Island, is known for awamori distilled over direct flame, and for liqueurs — umeshu and shikuwasa — that carry the island's flavours. Its awamori museum, opened in 1986, stands beside the distillery.
