Kindaiboshi Masamune — a lucky-star sake from Shibusawa Eiichi's hometown.
Maruyama Shuzo, founded in 1873 in Fukaya — birthplace of Eiichi Shibusawa, the father of Japanese capitalism — brews in deliberately small batches. Its founding label Kindaiboshi Masamune takes its name from the kinboshi, sumo's giant-killing gold star, a wish for prosperity. With Saitama Institute of Technology, it brews Shunkido, a sake students carry from rice growing through to sale. Shop hours 10:00–12:00 and 13:30–17:00.
