Since 1900 — 久留米市, Fukuoka
A Chikugo brewery in a cluster of eight kura, brewing with pesticide-free Yamada Nishiki since 1994.
Asahigiku has brewed since 1900 in Mizunawa, part of Kurume, Fukuoka, its name inspired by "the chrysanthemum, a flower as vigorous and symbolic of Japan as the rising sun." The kura sits in Mitsuma, a district home to eight breweries in the Chikugo sake-producing region, and focuses on rice-forward flavor built to accompany meals rather than chase passing trends. Since 1994, Asahigiku has also brewed with pesticide-free Yamada Nishiki rice grown in Itoshima.
