The Story of 小林酒造本店

Kobayashi Shuzo Honten was founded in 1819 in what is now Umi, Fukuoka. According to house history, the second-generation head, Katsuhira, came across an unusual stone resembling an old turtle — an animal long associated in Japan with the idea of “ten thousand years” — and named the brewery's flagship sake Bandai in its honor. For more than two centuries since, the house has kept its focus on taste and traditional method.
