Since 1872 — 球磨郡水上村, Fukuoka
A rice-shochu house at the Kuma River's uppermost reach, turning cask wisdom to whisky.
Ooishi Shuzojo, founded in 1872, sits at the uppermost reaches of the Kuma River. Long known for rice shochu, the house has taken up whisky in recent years, applying knowledge built through long cask maturation — its cellars hold around 1,200 casks — to its new-make spirit. Brewery tours are offered per official guidance.
