Yamaguchi Shuzojo was founded in 1832 beside the Chikugo River, where the fertile Chikugo plain supplies fine rice and water. Its Niwa no Uguisu ("warbler in the garden") label enjoys national popularity, with a lively rotation of seasonal releases showing off the house's polished technique. Tours are available, with no reservation needed during October.
