On Saijo's historic brewery row, Kirei has chased dry, clean-finishing sake since 1868 — its name borrowed from the long-lived tortoise.
Kirei Shuzo has stood on Saijo's historic brewery street in Higashihiroshima since 1868. The name, written with characters for 'tortoise' and 'age,' nods to the tortoise as a symbol of longevity in Japanese culture. The house favors dry (karakuchi) sake with a crisp, clean finish, built on Hiroshima's own brewing-grade rice. Its direct shop sits right on the brewery street and lets visitors taste the range before they buy.
