From sake to gin to whisky — a total drinks maker looking out on Miyajima.
Sakurao Brewery and Distillery was founded in 1918 as Chugoku Jozo, with its home kura in Sakurao, Hatsukaichi — looking across to the World Heritage island of Miyajima. Holding fast to a century of technique while chasing new creation, it makes sake, shochu, whisky, craft gin, liqueurs and non-alcoholic products. Its sparkling sake took gold at SAKE COMPETITION 2018, and its liqueurs include a whisky-cask-aged umeshu. The SAKURAO DISTILLERY visitor centre runs reservation-only tours.
