A 300-year-old Hiroshima kura brewing exclusively with prefecture-grown rice and Mt. Gokurakuji spring water.
Yahatagawa Shuzo has brewed in the Yahata district of Saeki-ku, Hiroshima, since 1708 -- a history spanning more than 300 years, now led by president Hiroshi Kobayashi. The kura draws its brewing water from the spring flow of Mt. Gokurakuji and insists on Hiroshima-grown rice varieties: Yamada Nishiki, Senbonnishiki and Nakate Shinsenbon. Its daiginjo Tenko has won gold medals at Japan's National New Sake Awards three years running.
