A 330-year-old house in Itami — the birthplace of clear sake — whose brew once graced the shogun's table.
Itami Oimatsu Shuzo has brewed for more than 300 years in Itami, the city where clear (seishu) sake is said to have first emerged. Under the Oimatsu label, it built a reputation stretching back to the Edo period, when its sake was presented to the imperial court and served on the shogun's own table as one of the finest goyoshu (officially sanctioned) sake of the day. The brewery sits just minutes from both JR Itami and Hankyu Itami stations and now sells its sake through its own online shop.
