Since 1874 — 加古川市, Hyogo
Kakogawa's only kura — all handwork, water from 50 metres down.
Okada Honke, founded in 1874, is the only sake brewery left in Kakogawa, Hyogo. Its label Kinshi Seiten was named for the grand ceremonies of Emperor Meiji's reign. Everything is brewed by hand with no mass production, using Kakogawa subsoil water drawn from fifty metres underground and 100% Hyogo-grown rice — local brewing in the fullest sense. A direct shop offers tastings and sales.
