Ozeki was founded in 1711 by Osakaya Chobei, and in 1964 it released One Cup Ozeki, a single-serving cup of sake that changed how the drink was consumed across Japan and carried the Ozeki name nationwide. The brewery uses Nishinomiya's miyamizu water and Hyogo-grown Yamada Nishiki rice, and today serves as an official partner of Grand Sumo.
