A couple and a tiny team, brewing sake to remember in the Kiso hills.
Yukawa Shuzoten, founded in 1650 in the mountain village of Kiso in Nagano, is run by a husband-and-wife team with a handful of brewers, making sake led by sensibility rather than scale — sake to be remembered, in their words. Its Jurokudai Kuroemon label carries the name of sixteen generations. Kura tours are not held for hygiene reasons, but Sakagura Yukawa offers reserved tastings and sake talk.
