桃の里
Since 1910 — 赤磐市, Okayama
An Akaiwa kura since 1910 that brewed its signature label to honor an imperial visit in 1956.
Akaiwa Shuzo was founded in 1910 in Kawamoto, Akaiwa, Okayama. In 1956, when Emperor Showa toured the region, the brewery's head was given the honor of leading his procession — and the kura brewed a new label, Momo no Sato ("Village of Peaches"), to mark the occasion. It still steams rice the old way, in wood-fired kama kettles, using Omachi and Asahi rice grown locally in Akaiwa.
