An Ukan-cho kura with six national gold medals, whose grounds once doubled as a film set for "Battery."
Founded in 1918 in Ukan-cho, Takahashi, Okayama, Horetsu Shuzo has taken gold at the national new sake tasting competition six times — in 1996, 1998, 2001, 2002, 2011 and 2013. Its grounds also served as a filming location for the 2007 movie Battery. The brewery's flagship, Sakura Horetsu, is known for a pleasant flavor and smooth finish.
