The Story of 冨田酒造

Tomita Shuzo has brewed in Kinomoto, at the northern tip of Lake Biwa, since 1532 — more than 490 years of continuous history. Its label, Shichihonyari, takes its name from the 'Seven Spears of Shizugatake,' the warriors celebrated for their valor in the nearby battle. Water reaching the brewery has traveled through the mountain for some 40 years before it emerges, and Tomita works with rice grown under contract with local farmers in the region's fertile soil.
