The Story of 君盃酒造

Kunpai Shuzo began in the early Meiji era as a branch of Masuichi Shuzo, relocating in the early Showa period to its current site in Tegoshi, Suruga Ward, Shizuoka City. It was revived under the name Kunpai in 1950, a name drawn from a farewell poem by the Tang dynasty poet Wang Wei. Run by just two family members, parent and child, the kura uses the Abe River's underflow water to brew a gently sweet sake meant to accompany a meal.
