Since 1831 — 栃木市, Tochigi
Nearly two centuries brewing beneath the Nikko range in Tochigi, with the mountains' own spring water flowing through the kura.
Sagara Shuzo has brewed in Iwafune, in southern Tochigi, since 1831 — nearly two centuries on the same ground, where the Ashio mountains and the Nikko range rise to the north amid the green hills and paddies of the northern Kanto plain. Spring water flowing from the Nikko range through the brewery's own grounds forms its brewing water, and Tochigi-grown rice paired with several strains of Tochigi yeast, varied by label, aims at a sake close to its people, its food and its prefecture.
