Since 1892 — 天童市, Yamagata
The Tendo brewery that lit Japan's ginjo boom — and carried Yamagata sake to the world stage.
Founded in 1892 in Tendo, Dewazakura is the brewery most closely tied to bringing ginjo — aromatic, refined sake once reserved for competitions — to everyday drinkers. Its Oka Ginjo sparked the nationwide ginjo boom, and international recognition followed, including the IWC Champion Sake award. The house also champions Yamagata's own rice, brewing with the prefecture-bred Yuki Megami variety.
