A 300-year-old Mizunami kura that traded winter-only brewing for a year-round operation shipping to 24 countries.
Founded in 1702 in Mizunami, Gifu, when Kozaemon Yononobu Nakashima began brewing sake using tax rice, this house has operated for over three centuries. Its junmai daiginjo won gold three years running (2015-2017) at Japan's National New Sake Awards. In 2018 the brewery built a new kura and shifted from winter-only brewing to year-round production, and today it exports to 24 countries, working with rice varieties from Aiyama and Yamada Nishiki to Omachi and Miyama Nishiki.
