Nine straight national golds from a 1690 kura in the Tajima hills.
Konotomo Shuzo was founded in 1690 in Asago, Hyogo, and brews to a creed of rice, water, technique and heart — three hundred years of handwork, as its motto declares. Using Hyogo-grown Yamada Nishiki and Gohyakumangoku with natural water of the Awaga mountains, it has taken gold at the Annual Japan Sake Awards nine years running (as of 2023). It also makes Ame no Hiboko, Tajima's only local honkaku shochu. Tours on request; a direct shop opened in 2019.
