The Story of 井上酒造

Founded in 1897 in Oi, at the foot of Kanagawa's Ashigara plain, Inoue Shuzo has brewed sake here for generations. The kura draws mineral-rich hard water from its own well, fed by the Sakawa River as it flows from the eastern slopes of Mt. Fuji. Its brewers trained in the Noto school of traditional technique, applied to the house's Hakoneyama ("Mt. Hakone") label. Tours are currently paused, though the brewery normally welcomes advance-booked visits with English-language guiding and a free tasting, mainly from November to March.
