月桂冠
Since 1637 — 伏見, Kyoto
Nearly four centuries of Fushimi brewing — the house that freed sake from winter with year-round production.
Founded in 1637 in Fushimi, Kyoto's storied brewing quarter, Gekkeikan is one of Japan's great sake houses. The name — 'laurel crown' — was adopted in 1905, and innovation has been constant ever since: Gekkeikan developed the four-season brewing system that released sake from winter-only production, and its experimental Gekkeikan Studio still trials new styles today. The Gekkeikan Okura Sake Museum draws well over a hundred thousand visitors a year.
