Since 1832 — 宮津市, Kyoto
A Tango-coast kura near Ama-no-hashidate, brewing with ultra-soft water from Mt. Yura's slopes.
Hakurei was founded in 1832 in Yura, Tango, Kyoto, close to Ama-no-hashidate, between the sea and the Oe mountain range. Its brewing water, called Fudosansui, is an ultra-soft spring drawn from partway up Mt. Yura, known locally as the "Tango Fuji." The house brews three label lines — Shuten Doji, Hakurei and Koda — and welcomes visitors for tours and tastings at its on-site facility, Ama no Kura.
Honjozo (yamahai) — the brewery's best-selling label, crisp and dry
Junmai Ginjo (kimoto) — rich and full-bodied
Junmai — clean, food-friendly style
