Since 1867 — 浅口市, Okayama
A farming kura with organic certification on three continents.
Marumoto Shuzo, founded in 1867 in Asakuchi, Okayama, calls itself a farming kura — it grows its own Yamada Nishiki, polishes it in-house, and carries the grain through to sake in one unbroken chain. It is one of very few breweries certified organic in Japan, the US and the EU. Its Chikurin and Kamomidori labels carry the results. Tours by reservation (about 60 minutes, four people and up, best October to March).
