Matsu no Hana — named for an old pine, brewed on Takashima's spring waters.
Kawashima Shuzo, founded in 1865 in Takashima, Shiga, named its sake Matsu no Hana in memory of the old pine felled to build the kura. Noto-born toji Shinji Kitagawa brews with the region's abundant subsoil water — the same waters that feed the living kabata spring-channels of nearby Harie — and contract-grown rice. The kura holds two golds from the Osaka taxation bureau appraisal and a Monde Selection gold (2002). Eight minutes on foot from Shin-Asahi station.
