Since 1953 — 東近江市, Shiga
A revived Goka-sho brewery on the old Nakasendo, reborn under a new label in 2005 and back in its own kura since 2015.
Nakazawa Shuzo sits in Goka-sho, Higashiomi — birthplace of the Omi merchants — along the old Nakasendo highway. Declining sake consumption forced the brewery to close in 2000, but owner Kazuhiro Nakazawa trained at nearby Hata Shuzo and, in 2005, launched a new label, Kazuhiro, brewed using Hata's tanks. The brewery returned to brewing in its own kura in 2015. The label's name combines characters from the names of the two Noto toji who trained him, Hoichi Sakato and Hiroshi Yachi, and is read the same way as the owner's own given name.
