Ikawa Distillery opened in November 2020 at 1,200 metres in the Ikawa forestlands of the Southern Alps — among the highest distillery sites in Japan. Drawing the Tokusa spring and a cool, humid mountain climate, it builds whisky premised on long maturation, with the forest itself part of the plan.
