Since 1866 — 海南市, Wakayama
A Kishu kura on Kuroushi Inlet, named in the Man'yoshu, drawing well water from the same historic spring.
Founded in 1866, Nate Shuzoten takes its Kuroushi (Black Ox) label from Kuroushigata, an inlet in Kainan, Wakayama, celebrated in the eighth-century Man'yoshu poetry anthology. The kura draws its brewing water from a well that taps the same aquifer as the nearby Man'yo spring, and it centers its lineup on junmai — sake made only from rice, water, koji and yeast, without added distilled alcohol. The approach has earned Kuroushi honors including a KURA MASTER award.
Junmai — Yamada Nishiki and other sake rice, 15.6% alcohol
Daiginjo — Hyogo-grown Yamada Nishiki rice, 16.5% alcohol
Junmai — 15–16% alcohol
