A Yokote kura in Masuda's historic kura-lined streets, known nationwide for Mansaku no Hana.
Hinomaru Jozo, founded in 1874, sits in Masuda, a district of Yokote, Akita famed for its rows of century-old kura storehouses. The brewery's Mansaku no Hana — named for the witch hazel flower that blooms in early spring — has built a national following through skillful use of a wide range of sake rice varieties. Beyond sake, Hinomaru also makes Yogurushu, a yogurt-based liqueur, extending its fermentation craft in an unusual direction. Visitors can tour the storehouse district and buy directly at the brewery's own shop.
