An eighth-generation Joso house named for a beloved only daughter, whose ginjo has won Monde Selection gold three years running.
Yamanaka Shuzoten has brewed since 1868 in Joso, Ibaraki, using clear water from the Kinugawa River for its Hitorimusume ('only daughter') label — named for the affection and care of raising a treasured child. Now in its eighth generation, the brewery's Ginjo Sayaka has won Monde Selection gold three years in a row, and in 2024 the brewery drew international attention when it was featured on Singaporean public broadcasting.
