The Story of 赤武酒造

Akabu Shuzo was founded in Otsuchi, Iwate, in 1896, and lost its kura to the 2011 tsunami that struck the Tohoku coast. The house rebuilt in Morioka, where sixth-generation toji Furudate Ryunosuke now crafts AKABU, prized nationwide for its fresh, translucent character. Its sake has become genuinely hard to find, and the brewery is widely seen as emblematic of a new era for Iwate sake.
