The Story of 菱屋酒造店

Founded in 1891 in the fishing town of Miyako on Iwate's Sanriku coast, Hishiya Shuzoten carries more than 130 years of brewing history forward today. Its brewers keep alive the techniques of Tsujimura Katsutoshi, a craftsman honored with the title "Contemporary Master Craftsman," passed down within the kura. The house puts particular emphasis on junmai sake, brewed with an eye toward pairing with the seafood that defines life in this Sanriku fishing community.
