Since 1883 — 舞鶴市, Kyoto
A Maizuru brewery on the Sea of Japan, making 'Ikekumo' — sake meant to bring a smile, day after day.
Founded in 1883 in Maizuru, a Kyoto Prefecture town facing the Sea of Japan, Ikeda Shuzo brews with one goal: sake that makes you smile. Its Ikekumo label is built as an everyday companion to food — something to drink again and again without tiring of it. The brewery does not offer regular tours, but once a year it opens its doors for the Tango Tenshu Matsuri and similar kura-opening events.
