A 'Reiwa-era' brewery from confectionery maker Imuraya, raising fresh sake year-round inside a Mie resort village.
Imuraya, the Mie-based food company best known for confections, entered the sake business in 2019 and opened Fukuwagura — its brewery and flagship store — inside the VISON resort complex in Taki in 2021. The name fuses 'fuku' from Fukui Shuzojo with part of its founder's name. Fukuwagura runs a climate-controlled, four-season brewing system so its shop can always offer freshly made sake, and in the 2023 brewing year its Junmai Daiginjo won gold at Japan's National New Sake Awards.
