Since 1900 — 亀山市, Mie
A Mie brewery in the Suzuka foothills whose 200-year-old kura now doubles as an experience space called Bogura.
Suzukasanroku Shuzo, founded in 1900, takes its name from the foothills of the Suzuka mountains in Mie. The current head serves as both fifth-generation owner and toji (master brewer). The brewery renovated a 200-year-old earthen storehouse into an experiential facility called Bogura, and beyond sake it also develops fermented products — sake lees, vinegar, bread, pickles and jam — under the belief that a small kura can take on challenges larger brewers can't.
