By Nara Park, where sake is said to have begun, Harushika still pours from the birthplace of Japanese brewing.
Imanishi Seibee Shoten has brewed Harushika steps from Nara Park since 1884, in a city its own history calls the birthplace of sake. The brewery's shoin hall doubles as a cafe, and a tasting counter lets visitors sample the range on site — from the standard Junmai Daiginjo to Kegon, a full-strength (genshu) Junmai Daiginjo pressed at 35%. It's one of Nara's best-known names for travelers as much as for sake lovers.
