Since 1900 — 香芝市, Nara
A small Nara brewery beneath sacred Mt. Nijo, brewing in deliberately small batches for tighter temperature control — while also running a music school.
Founded in 1900 in Goido, Nara, at the western edge of the Nara basin with a view of sacred Mt. Nijo, Sawada Shuzo brews its Kankiko label in small batches, a scale chosen to allow strict temperature control and even fermentation across every tank. Beyond sake, the brewery has diversified into OEM production of health foods and even operates a music academy, an unusual combination for a kura of its size.
