富士の雪

The Story of 川浪商事

Kawanami Shoji is a sake house in Yamashiro, Imari, Saga, whose flagship label, Fuji no Yuki ('Snow on Fuji'), was named after an earlier head of the family was struck by the beauty of a snow-capped Mt Fuji on a trip to Tokyo. The brewery once used water from nearby Arita and won an Excellence Award at a national sake competition, building a reputation for quality. Today it sells only to customers who visit the shop directly, though the current, seventh-generation head, Fujio Kawanami, has signaled plans to build up the business for full-scale sales again.
