鍋島
Since 1923 — 鹿島市, Saga
A Kashima brewery that spent three years perfecting Nabeshima before it became the world's top sake in 2011.
Founded in 1923 as Morikoto, the brewery in Kashima, Saga, took its present name, Fukuchiyo — 'may prosperity flourish through the generations' — after the war. Its flagship, Nabeshima, took three years of development before its 1998 debut and went on to win the International Wine Challenge's Champion Sake title in 2011, propelling it onto the world stage. Guests staying at the brewery's inn, a renovated building more than 230 years old, can join a tour led personally by the toji (master brewer).
