Kamofuku Shuzo, founded in 1922 as the brewery of a Kamo shrine in the mountains of Onan, Shimane, brews carefully hand-made sake that has taken many golds at the Annual Japan Sake Awards. Its most famous bottle inverts fortune itself: Shinigami — the Death God — a rich sake (SMV -5) that became a national cult favourite. The kura collaborates with Shimane University, including koji research; tours are not offered.
