Asaka Distillery in Koriyama is run by Sasanokawa Shuzo, which obtained its whisky licence in 1946 — giving it the oldest surviving whisky-making lineage in Tohoku. Distillation resumed in 2016 under the Asaka name, and its single malt now carries the flag. Factory tours are available.
