An Aizu kura founded by a sake appraiser, chasing clean sweetness ever since.
Nagurayama Shuzo was founded in 1918 in Aizuwakamatsu by Zenroku Matsumoto, whose work resembled that of today's sake appraisers. In the Nanbu toji lineage, the house pursues sake quality with single-minded rigour — a gold-medal kura at the Annual Japan Sake Awards that balances innovation against tradition. Its junmai Tsukiyumi took the IWC 2018 junmai trophy (first place). The brewery does not offer tours.
Two yeasts — IWC 2018 Junmai Trophy (first place)
IWC 2015 Gold — the year's culminating brew
Brewed to the concept of clean sweetness
