A Kitakata house since 1790 that grows its own organic rice on Yamatogawa Farm and has taken gold at the national sake awards eight years running.
Yamatogawa Shuzoten was founded in 1790 in Kitakata, Fukushima, and passed to its tenth-generation head in 2022. The brewery established Yamatogawa Farm to grow its own organic, pesticide-free sake rice, and draws its brewing water from springs beneath Mt. Iide. Its flagship label, Yauemon, has won gold at the National New Sake Awards for eight consecutive years.
