A 1594 Yuki kura in a registered cultural-property building, now led by the region's first female Joban toji.
Yuki Shuzo was founded in 1594 in Yuki, Ibaraki, and still brews in buildings that include Ansei-gura, a registered Tangible Cultural Property raised in the Ansei era, alongside a Meiji-period brick chimney. Drawing on soft water from the Kinugawa river system, it brews cold-season sake meant to taste soft, rounded and gentle. Since 2019, the kura has been led by Michiko Urazato, who became a certified Joban toji that year.
