玉乃光
Since 1673 — 伏見, Kyoto
One of Fushimi's few 'junmai-only' brewers — the Kyoto house that rescued Omachi rice from near-extinction in 1982.
Founded in 1673 in Fushimi, Kyoto's storied brewing quarter, Tamanohikari is a rarity among its neighbors: a house that brews only junmai and junmai ginjo, using nothing but rice, water and koji. In 1982 it revived Omachi, a sake-rice variety then on the brink of extinction, and in 2021 added an organic-certified line. The brewery does not offer tours, but its dedication to pure, food-friendly sake has drawn international honors, including a platinum prize for Black Label at Kura Master 2025.
