A brand-new Shimane kura, opened in 2022, chasing the glittering clarity of a San'in summer sea.
Tanabe Takeshita Shuzo opened in June 2022 in Unnan, Shimane, taking over a kura left without a successor and welcoming a rising young brewmaster, Hamasaki, who began brewing that November. The house aims for something fruity and vividly fresh — the image of a sparkling, clear San'in sea in summertime. Its first release, a January 2023 test batch from Okuizumo, marked the toji's first encounter with this land, water and climate; refining that experience, the brewery relaunched under the Rihachi label, once again brewing with the Tanabe family.
